अध्याय ३: श्लोक १६-१७ । सहयोगी कृत्य एवं कर्म का उद्देश्य

Chapter 3: Verse 16-17

Subject: Cooperative-Action

विषय: सहयोगी कृत्य

एवं प्रवर्तितं चक्रं नानुवर्तयतीह यः।
अघायुरिन्द्रियारामो मोघं पार्थ स जीवति॥३-१६॥
 
He who does not keep in motion with this cosmic-wheel (of cooperative action) and who rejoices only in the sense-objects, that sinful, O Partha, lives in vain in this world.
Lesson: His life is worthless who simply rejoices in the sense-objects and fails to follow the cosmic cycle of cooperative-action.

हे पार्थ! जो पुरुष इस लोक में इस प्रकार परम्परा से प्रचलित सृष्टिचक्र के अनुकूल नहीं बरतता अर्थात अपने कर्तव्य का पालन नहीं करता, वह इन्द्रियों द्वारा भोगों में रमण करने वाला पापायु पुरुष व्यर्थ ही जीता है। ॥१६॥

Subject: Ultimate Purpose of Karma

विषय: कर्म का एक मात्र उद्देश्य

यस्त्वात्मरतिरेव स्यादात्मतृप्तश्च मानवः।
आत्मन्येव च संतुष्टस्तस्य कार्यं न विद्यते॥३-१७॥
 
For him there remains no action (no worldly or obligatory duty/action) who rejoices only in the Self and who drives satisfaction and contentment in the Self alone.

(ज्ञानवान और भगवान के लिए भी लोकसंग्रहार्थ कर्मों की आवश्यकता)

परन्तु जो मनुष्य आत्मा में ही रमण करने वाला और आत्मा में ही तृप्त तथा आत्मा में ही सन्तुष्ट हो, उसके लिए कोई कर्तव्य नहीं है। ॥१७॥

अध्याय ३: श्लोक १४-१५। यज्ञ एवं नक्षत्र चक्र

Chapter 3: Verse 14-15

Subject: Yajna and Cosmic Cycle

विषय: यज्ञ एवं नक्षत्र चक्र

अन्नाद्भवन्ति भूतानि पर्जन्यादन्नसम्भव: ।
यज्ञाद्भवति पर्जन्यो यज्ञ: कर्मसमुद्भव: ॥३-१४॥

 

All beings are born of food (all living beings depend on food); from rain food is produced; rain comes from sacrifice; and sacrifice is born of action.

सम्पूर्ण प्राणी अन्न से उत्पन्न होते हैं, अन्न की उत्पत्ति वृष्टि से होती है, वृष्टि यज्ञ से होती है और यज्ञ विहित कर्मों से उत्पन्न होने वाला है ॥१४॥

कर्म ब्रह्मोद्भवं विध्दि ब्रह्माक्षरसमुद्भवम् ।
तस्मात्सर्वगतं ब्रह्म नित्यं यज्ञे प्रतिष्ठितम् ॥३-१५॥

 

Know that action originates from Brahma (scriptures) and Brahma from the Imperishable. Thus the all pervading Brahman (Devine knowledge) is ever established in sacrifice (action/service with a sense of sacrifice).

Lesson: Cosmic-cycle revolves with cooperative-action where- in all forces, which are interdependent, sacrifice for each other.

कर्मसमुदाय को तू वेद से उत्पन्न और वेद को अविनाशी परमात्मा से उत्पन्न हुआ जान। इससे सिद्ध होता है कि सर्वव्यापी परम अक्षरं परमात्मा सदा ही यज्ञ में प्रतिष्ठित है ॥१५॥

अध्याय ३: श्लोक १३। समपत्ति का सदुपयोग

Chapter 3: Verse 13

Subject: Use of Wealth

विषय: समपत्ति (धन) का सदुपयोग

यज्ञशिष्टाशिनः सन्तो मुच्यन्ते सर्वकिल्बिषैः।
भुञ्जते ते त्वघं पापा ये पचन्त्यात्मकारणात्॥३-१३॥

The righteous who use the residue of yajana (the sacrifice) are liberated from all sins; but the sinful who prepare food (only) for themselves, without sharing with others, verily eat sin.

Lesson: While consuming wealth (material things) share it with others. Do not hoard it.

यज्ञ से बचे हुए अन्न को खाने वाले श्रेष्ठ पुरुष सब पापों से मुक्त हो जाते हैं और जो पापी लोग अपना शरीर-पोषण करने के लिए ही अन्न पकाते हैं, वे तो पाप को ही खाते हैं। ॥१३॥
